Desperate need to house lonely seniors: Its a hidden problem

Review: Today Sally Round of RNZ reports on lonely seniors who are desperate for accommodation, and have been approaching a Nelson housing charity: Abbeyfield New Zealand. The charity is calling for more housing options for seniors, “which would also help them deal with loneliness and social isolation.”

With an increasing number of older people retiring without owning their own home, there is concern that the problem of housing seniors will only grow.  One option is for seniors to rent together in homes that are suited to their needs, which reduces financial pressures, social isolation, and loneliness.
