NZ Defence Force seeks bids for new external mental health services

Review: Today Ruby Macandrew writes in the Sunday Star Times about the New Zealand Defence Force tendering to mental health providers to establish a counselling and mental health service for its personnel.  The service would enable access to a mental health helpline and Employee Assistance Programme.

In the most recent NZDF Health and Wellbeing Survey nearly two-thirds of personnel reported more than one life stressor in the previous four weeks.  The areas with closest relationship to psychological distress were sleep, loneliness, exposure to prior stressful experiences, job satisfaction, and finances.
