‘People just look right through me’ – Elderly in Lakes DHB area lonely

Review: Today Samantha Oiley reports in the Rotorua Daily Post that elderly in the Lakes District Health Board area are spending their days alone more than any other health area in New Zealand.  In particular, 44% of elderly in the area spend 8 daytime hours alone compared to 30% nationally.

There is more demand for Age Concern’s Accredited Visitor Service from elderly than they can provide volunteers.
